Can anyone help this woman? (Bunny) Morning my sweet potato fry…I am very interested in trying either snowshoe or x country this winter…but I have no transportation…do you know if these activities are offered anywhere in Syracuse or nearby?

Hi Everybody! About those diet drinks I stopped drinking last April: make sure you are on this e-mail list, bunnydiet@aol.com, if you need me to add you to it, and I will send around an e-mail tonight explaining why I don't drink them anymore. You need to follow me not drinking them. Trust me on this issue, Bunny
[7:35:09 AM | 10/23/2008 | ]
About the diet sodas....the nutritionist at the program at Upstate says that a study was done that shows women that drink diet sodas were 40% more likely to gain weight. She said that the brain doesn't know how to process the drink.

Hi, Just want to say I really enjoyed the talk in Utica. I have been taking my teen daughter to Upstate Pediatric Unit for Healthy Lifestyles. It was great to hear you repeat what she has been hearing from them. And of course what I have been telling her. But as we all know parents of teens know nothing. You did a great job of showing the reality of life being obese then the reality of the work involved in staying healthy. She needed to hear that from a real person. Thany you so much. Allison
[1:36:25 PM | 10/22/2008 | ]
Good luck in Utica Bunny! I'm going to try to make it there, but if I can't - thank you! All that you do is so appreciated!
[7:16:02 PM | 10/15/2008 | ]
Hi Bunny, I wonder if you could put something in an article or here in the messages about why the nutritionist(?) talked you out of drinking diet sodas. I used to be addicted to diet pepsi. The caffeine became too much for me and now I drink non colas. I will follow your leading on eliminating those...but I'd love to know why. Thanks! Barbara

Welcome Everyone from Utica! See you Sunday at the Radisson! Bunny

I’m excited about seeing you also………I found some pictures from PSC with you and I newspapering the bathroom in the middle of the night – and also one of Jutsie Barnum when we tied her doorknob to the fire alarm. This week's Health & Fitness section in the Post-Standard tells it like it is about exercise. Read that section and think about things. Bunny

I will be sending around an e-mail this weekend. I am still adding names to my mailing list. Think soup and other comfort foods, Bunny

Thank you all for the many e-mails I have received about the column that ran in the Post-Standard today. My words are your words; I think of that every time I speak. I truly am a lucky woman to have all of you in my life...........Bunny Dimmel

and you wonder why I love to walk????????? read this: Walk, Don't Run Worried abour your triglycerides? Stop running and start walking! A study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology states walking and other moderat-intensity exercise are the best kinds for reduing your level of triglycerides, a type of fat found in your blood. Researchers assigned 240 overweight, middle-aged adults to do one of the following: Work out intensely (the equivalent of fogging at 6 MPH) either 12 or 20 miles per week, walk 12 miles per week at a moderate intensity (around 4 MPH) or do nothing. The moderate exercisers showed double the improvement in their triglyceride levels, compared with the other groups -- and only the moderate exercisers' levels stayed low for more than two weeks after their last walk.

Hi Bunny. I just wanted you to know how inspired I was by you when I saw you speak at the Holiday Inn in Auburn. Much of your advice has stuck in my head, and I took you up on your challenge of exercise and not eating after 7:30 for 30 days. Thank you - I only wish your "story" was on tape so I could relisten to it whenever I needed. Maybe that could be a future endeavor after your book! Thanks again! Your firend, Sue
[9:48:16 AM | 9/16/2008 | ]
Dear Jo-Ann C, You're welcome. Hope you like the Leslie Sansone walking tapes. She's quite a character. I just found some old Richard Simmons VHS tapes in a yard sale and at Dollar General. They are also fun to exercise to. He makes me laugh. All these tapes make you work up a respectable sweat and get your heart rate up. Jeanna

OK guys.............I am posting the Utica information now.............Bunny
[3:14:59 PM | 9/11/2008 | ]
GOOD LUCK TONIGHT BUNNY!!! I know you will be a great inspiration and I only wish I was closer to attend (and had more time to take off from work ... it would be an overnight stay for me!). Hope to see you at some point, while also working on getting you "south" a bit! Have a blast! All the best, Jo-Ann

Have you heard of sparkpeople.com? My mother was looking for help with her dieting and she came across it. It is a website and you can use it to keep track of your daily food intake, exercise, goals, etc. You can make changes in your eating plans (calorie intake, special diets, etc.) for your personal needs. I have been using it for about a month and have lost 5 pounds. I just wanted to make sure you knew about it. If you like it, maybe you can mention it to the many people you have been helping and they could be helped even more. Thanks. Brenda

Hi Pam, thanks for that nice note. There are many, many, many beautiful people walking around covered with fat.........I can help you, sign up to get on my mailing list, and where do you live? Maybe I can come to your area and speak sometime......I BELIEVE IN YOU! Bunny
[4:47:11 AM | 9/5/2008 | ]
Bunny, I read a story about you on the internet. I saw your "before" picture first and it looks so much like me. Then I read your story and opened the next page that showed a current picture. I promptly burst into tears. You are so beautiful! Thank you for giving me hope. I didn't think that I had one more "start" left in me, but maybe I do. Thank you again, Pam Harris

That is a great idea posting the areas you want me to come speak at. More people will see it here than in my e-mail. This grassroots movement is flourishing...........it is wonderful, Bunny

Bunny fans in and around Westchester-Rockland-Putnam areas? Please write and maybe we can get a bunch of us together for a speaking engagement w/ Bunny. I'll be glad to help coordinate everything and hopefully make it work. Please write if you're interested and let's try to make this happen! Jo-Ann C

Re: Leslie Sansone ... Thanks Jeanna. I read your message and have just ordered a book and tapes. They look like they will be very helpful. Never heard of her before, but great reviews at Amazon and I'm looking forward to getting my order. BTW, I am joining WW today (a WW-at-Work program starts today and I'm joining this afternoon), so THANKS BUNNY, again, for this website and the motivation. Will keep you posted. Sincerely, Jo-Ann C

Dear Margie, I came from a very dark place in my life. Hopefully, most of you will never feel the pain and rejection that I felt most of my life. The thought of going back there helps me stay focused on the change I made with my life. You are no different than millions of people that struggle with weight issues daily, and are frustrated over the whole thing. Don't be so hard on yourself; positive thinking embracing the change you need to make, helps. Read my latest column I wrote for the Post-Standard on here. Stay in touch, I believe in you! Bunny Dimmel

Dear Bunnie, You are such an inspiration. I just can't seem to get started. After hearing you speak at our TOPS meeting I went home and said I can get a hold of this weight problem. I have failed miserably this past week. I eat when I am not even hungry. I don't know how you disciplined yourself the way that you have. Great Job. I hope I can turn things around soon. Margie

Coming around this weekend is a list of my snacks that help me.............stay tuned! Bunny
[11:35:12 AM | 8/2/2008 | ]
I am busy adding more names to the e-mail list. This weekend I will send around some new snacks I have been eating, and some other information for all of you. I am thinking of all of you, Bunny
[8:15:36 PM | 7/31/2008 | ]
OK. Let me know what time, and where, and I will try to meet you. My schedule is more flexible in the summer too because there is no choir practice on Sunday mornings. I have been trying to count WW points and walk to Leslie Sansone tapes. I even threw a cake out into the garbage that was calling my name. Imagine that? Jeanna
[8:00:00 AM | 7/29/2008 | ]
I am juggling between Onondaga Lake Park, and Beaver Lake. Summer School ends August 8th and that will make it easier to plan for walking. See you on the trails!Bunny

Hi Bunny, What's your walking schedule for this summer? Are you still walking at Beaver Lake? Jeanna

Both of my crock pots, the large one that I cooked a half of turkey breast in yesterday, and my baby one, are oval shaped. It is easier to fit the shape of meat in that size. Bunny

Recipes for the "baby-crock pot" coming around this weekend. So glad so many of you are requesting them............it is the only way to go. Add your name if you are not on the mailing list, Bunny
[5:40:29 AM | 7/22/2008 | ]
Many of you are asking for my "Baby Crock-pot" recipes. Here is a sample from my mailbox, I will gather up my favorites and send them to you in the next e-mail. Bunny Dear Bunny, You mentioned your "baby Crock Pot" in your e-mail today. If you have other good recipes (for anything!) that you like to make in the baby Crock Pot, I would appreciate your sharing them. I recently discovered that I can make steel cut oatmeal in my baby Crock Pot, 2-3 servings at a time, which is a real timesaver for breakfast. (Who has time to cook oatmeal on the stove in the morning?) And the packets of instant oatmeal just don't compare in taste and texture after you've had steel cut oatmeal. Spray the crock with cooking spray like Pam, then add 3/4 cup steel cut oatmeal and 3 cups of water. Stir. Cook on low for 8-9 hours. (I do this overnight.) According to the package, this is three servings, but to me, they are small portions (IMHO), so I divide it into two hearty servings, refrigerate them if I'm not eating them immediately, and then just zap in the microwave to reheat. I count the WW points accordingly. If you are avoiding artificial sweeteners you can add sliced banana or berries and it is delicious! Thanks in advance for sending along any other baby Crock Pot recipes. And thanks for your column and e-mails. It is the first thing I read when I see it in my inbox. Your friend in Ithaca, Wendy

Dear Bunny, Have you had Farmer Boy Restaurant Greek Salad Dressing? I found it at Price Chopper, and it is really good (25 cal/2 T.). Other finds...Jenny O seasoned turkey burgers..1/4 lb., 4 pt. and well worth it, in the freezer dept. (Tops) Also puffed Kamut cereal...like puffed wheat, but bigger and very satisfying. (Tops) You are scheduling trips to speak all over! Maybe even FL! How great is that! Go, girl! Thinking of you, Blanche

Hi Bunny, I just got finishing watching your NBC video and needless to say how very proud of you I was. You were relaxed, you appeared comfortable and blended in like one of the cast. You did an excellent job. I hope all of your dreams come true. It really was a pleasure watching you. I am proud to call you a friend. Jerry

Dear Bunny: I saw your Today Show clip and you did an awesome job! Anyone that has known you and saw you two and a half years ago would know the significant and different new you and the struggles you have gone thru. I, also wish the hostess had given YOU more air time as this was your time to speak and be heard over what they had to broadcast but you still did a great job and got an autograph for your kids to remember as well! Keep up the good work and keep us posted. Love your columns as you are truly an inspiration to many of us ! Mary S

Bunny, My mom told me about you so I checked out your site. I too finally reached the point in my life 6 months ago that you did 5 years ago. And walking is saving my life. For all the same reasons and in the same ways it saved yours. I too am a food addict. And just like other addictions if someone does not have it they don't understand it or believe it to be real. But once you recognize it for what it is you can begin to control it. Congratulations on where you are today, never forget where you were so that you can continue to be in control for the rest of your life! The wrinkled skin is sooo worth it- I am loving every new wrinkle I see as the pounds are melting away- and yes I will take this skin over the weight any day !! I am back in my life and I am going to fight to stay here!!! Continued strength to you!!!

Dear "L" in North Syracuse. That was a wonderful e-mail you posted on here. I am going to print out a copy of that and keep it near me. Thank you so much for that wonderful letter. Bunny
[7:47:45 PM | 6/30/2008 | ]
Bunny, You're a true inspiration. So many people are inspired by you and your work. I must say, I met someone the other day, who was very large, and had already lost ALOT of weight, even underwent surgery in PA to have skin removed. I was impressed by what she'd lost, but she was so negative, it saddened me. Because of your sheer positivity and upbeat personality, you are a beacon of light to the weight loss world. People who've been large all their lives are sometimes prone to emotional issues and social hurdles to overcome. You are one of the rare few who can carry herself professionally and exude class! Thanks again for being Bunny! Sincerely, L. in North Syracuse

Thanks about the chicken.....I needed that too. I eat a lot of chicken usually starting on Sunday and then go from there and it does taste like rubber eventually. I created my own recipe for it though. I call it my garbage chicken. I put the boneless nugget cut up chicken then put everything I can think of (as I can not have seeds truly gives me belly aches)...Today = grapes, apples, sweet potatoes, green onions, vidallia onions, carrots, lemon juice salt and pepper. I have been getting the lite hot dog buns from Wegs and making me a pretend hot dog out of it. Sometimes I melt a piece of fake cheese on top and yum...it changes the taste. Thanks for all you do Love M

I am just sitting here laughing that so many people know that the reason people are thinner is becuase they walk..............yet we don't want to do that! Go figure! Bunny
[10:09:11 AM | 6/28/2008 | ]
Hey Bunny! I know why people in NYC are thin! They walk more! You did a great job on Today! I missed the original broadcast for a dentist appointment, so I was happy you put it on your website. Can't wait to see you when the kids get married! Carole Petz (Chris's sister in Atlanta)
[9:13:12 AM | 6/28/2008 | ]
Bunny ~ You are such a natural in front of the camera, I would have been a nervous wreck! Wow! I loved it and I think you were so inspiring - I can't wait to read your book! ~ Barb

another bunny thump: Congratulations!! Way to go!! I lived in NYC and lost a lot of weight then. I walked everywhere and with the price of food, I watched what I ate.
[8:13:27 PM | 6/26/2008 | ]
another Bunny thump winner: Hi Bunny!!! You were GREAT on the Today Show!! I was so proud to see you representing all of "US!" I am sure NYC people are thinner than Up State NY because they all walk where ever they go. Traffic and parking is horendous in the city!
[5:49:29 AM | 6/26/2008 | ]
So here is the next thing to think about: If the people that live in NYC are thinner than us (upstaters) and all of you are in total agreement that they walk, and that explains it, what is the logical step for all of us? Meet me Sunday, June 29, at Onondaga Lake Park, Willow Bay area, at 11:00 A.M. for a walk.
[8:21:50 PM | 6/25/2008 | ]
Bunny... Again, it was a delight seeing you on the Today Show...soooo inspiring. I'm new to the site because of seeing you on the show. In answer to your question...I agree with everyone...I think it's because they walk everywhere!! They don't get in their cars like us. In Detroit...that's how we get to anywhere....car, car, car! I loved reading that they treated you like royalty on the show. I'm in advertising and I know all about the rules with stars, how they make you up and especially about the "craft service" table of food in the green room. Those tables of food can get one into big trouble...I know...I've been to many a table!! The food is to keep you occupied...less bored while you wait for your turn to get on TV. It's crazy!! You are a star in your own right...and from seeing you on TV...Will Smith hugged you because he gravitated to your genuine kindness. I'd lay money he doesn't do that with everyone. He needed to hug the Bunny!!! Thanks for everything! Sheryl
[12:23:55 PM | 6/25/2008 | ]
Bunny! You were wonderful! Great job putting all those people in place and really showing them that all celebrities are just like eveyone else. They to need to show some respect for women that can be there moms! Im very impressed with you! New Yorker people are thinner cause they walk everywhere. They dont take cabs or cars unless they are going more then ten acrossed town...
[8:24:51 AM | 6/25/2008 | ]
Bunny.. Great job. You did not seemat all nervous. You are a natural STAR. Freda

Hi Bunny: I LOVED the details about your wonderful trip to NYC ... But New Yawkers thin? Well, I grew up in da Bronx and there's too much tasty-but-not-good-for-you food to nosh on every corner. Yeah, I did a lot of walking, from the pizza guy, to the hot dog guy, to the knish guy, to the .... As always, you are an inspiration! Your friend, Big Mike
[9:47:46 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Great job Bunny I happened to catch the show and you were great. Knowing what happens to you behind the scenes, I could visualize everything. I knew that you must have swooned with The Donald and the hair. By the way, people are thin in NY because they walk everywhere they go. My Aunt died at 98. She never had a driver's license. She walked everywhere in NY or took public transportation. I use to know how wide the island of Manhattan was and I have walked ever inch of it when I worked in NY. Great job! Karen
[9:39:39 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Bunny, I'm new to your site and am so happy to have discovered you through a friend. You were stellar on Today! Such poise ! You inspire me to get moving more, girlfriend! Cathy

Hey Bunny, I just logged on the the Today show and watched your segment!!! WOO HOO girl. I am SO proud of you. I am one of those friends that applaud your progess all the time!! Keep it up and keep inspiring others to follow the right direction of health and fitness!!! Love it!!!
[8:11:58 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Bunny, You did a beautiful job! You looked lovely and even better, you held your own in spite of 3 women all trying to talk over you. Congratulations on emerging successfully from the 'baptism of fire.' I'm sure that is the beginning of a new level of the public awareness of your life saving message. Peggy
[8:00:33 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Bunny...how DO you do it? Without taking over the segment in a dominant way, you took over the segment in a dominant way!! You really rock (as your students would say!) You looked and sounded magnificent, and I'm so grateful to have you out there for me! Thanks, Bunny, for keeping us informed ......AND entertained! We love you and thank God for you. Love, Karen

Hi Bunny, I saw you on the Today Show on TV. You are a celebrity! It is amazing how different you look than when I knew you. When you get rich, you should have surgery and remove all that skin that is weighing you down. They said on TV that it weighed 30 lbs.! Yikes! You are to be CONGRATULATED for sticking to your diet and doing the impossible. Keep up the good job. Your Friend in SC, Mary Jo
[7:44:48 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Aren't those Bunny thumps the best? I am so proud of everyone for figuring out why NYC people are thinner..........another thump: NYC people are thinner that upstate people because they walk a lot! Loved your show and your letter about it even more. Marty
[7:40:54 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Bunny, I loved reading of your NYC experience! You looked, acted, and sounded just great! My complaint was with the hosts who couldn't seem to stop talking. I wanted YOU to have more "talk time" because your message is so important. You are truly an inspiration for all of us--now, not just around Central New York. I hope you have an enjoyable, and perhaps relaxing, summer. Carol
[7:28:22 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
another Bunny Thump: thanks for sharing the show experiences. Your question about why are NYC people thinner than upstate NY? I think it's because the city people are always walking/running to buses, subways, taxis. Always on the run--even when they eat!! Big city life is different--that's for sure. Plus ,there are so many things to do--never a dull moment. In other words, they never sit still. Look forward to your emails, Norma
[7:18:21 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
andther one: They are thinner because they must walk a whole lot more than we do. I see alot of upstaters drive around a mall parking lot for 20, 25 minutes until they find a parking spot within 25 feet of an entrance...JT
[7:17:19 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
I see there are more winning Bunny thumps while I was at knitting. Add this one: Like I said "why do you need WW when you have your own thing goin on?" I loved this email and so glad you included me. It sounds like you had a ball. I am so happy for you. And the reason people in NYC are thinner is because they walk eveywhere they go.

Bunny, My husband used to live in NYC. He says people are thinner there because they walk everywhere since there is no place to park a car. Jeanna
[5:20:37 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
NYC people are thinner than Upstate NY people because they have more opportunity to walk than we do. We have to drive everywhere! Margaret
[5:16:27 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Interesting mail from my mailbox: Bunny Saw your slot tonight ( Karen has it on tape) You were great Love the part about 21 meals (and not being perfect for all of them) I was thinking of how the"public" thinks a baseball player with a .300 batting average is great. That would be getting a hit 3 out of 10 times Oh looking at it from another angle it would be a 70% failure rate Again you were FANTASTIC keep up the great work Joe
[3:35:28 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
another Bunny Thump to LE: and....are NYC people thinner because they walk everywhere?!?!!?
[3:32:15 PM | 6/24/2008 | ]
Next Bunny Thumpgoes to PB: Way to Go Bunny!!! I knew that this would happen, you may be entering the rhelm of Gurus. Anyway NYC people are thinner because they usually don't have cars. Hence they walk more amd they climb lots of stairs to their apartments and to public transportation. Maybe in this time of energy awareness you should write a column about that. When more calorie burn is seamlessly intergrated into ones life and there is less choice about whether or not to exercise, modern life and its ease has less of an impact.

Well Megan Sollecito gets the first Bunny Thump for the correct answer to my latest e-mail..........they walk, they walk, they walk.........so who is walking with me this summer? Bunny

Your last email mentioned not having time to make chicken soup. I solved the problem--bought a crock pot. They were so popular many years ago. In today's stressful times, they can be a good food manager. Lots of good, helathy and low cal menus are available. Norma

Why are NYC people so fit? I believe it is because they WALK everywhere! I recorded your TV appearance to watch after work with my family. We were all so very impressed with your stage presence, Bunny. You represented us CNY folks beautifully. You are a wonderful ambassador. Thank you for devoting your time and energy to this mission and sharing it. -Megan Sollecito

Thank you for sharing about the food addictions, the problem being inthe mind, and most of all, "It is not about the food, it is about how you respond to life around you." It is a life long battle for my sister and I, and we are both over 50, still trying, and you are wonderful to try to help others. Thank you, Synthia

Bunny, I have printed 'The Turning Point' for future reference. Drawing attention to yourself, even in success, was probably the last thing you wanted. Your willingness to expose the agonizing personal and private struggle to control your weight for the sole purpose of helping those who suffer in silence and shame is exemplary. The columns in which you detail suggestions and encouragement along with respect for those who are disregarded, ignored and even stigmatized impressed me enormously. Though I have no personal connection to this ever more serious health problem my heart goes out to those who know it too well. Thank you for all your efforts. Peggy

Hi Bunny, Always look forward to your emails & info. Found a great peanut butter through a WW visit. BP2 available only online. A powdered peanut butter with 75% less fat. You mix 2 tbsp. powder with 1 tbsp. water & stir. 54 calories, total fat 2.8gr. carbs,3.7gr. fiber 3g. Product contains peanuts, sugar & salt only. It is delicious, better than reg. PB. Only 1 WW point. 6.5 oz. jar costs about $6.30, but you have to order 4. I ordered & WW ladies bought the other 3 jars. I love PB, but if confronted with the real stuff. I could finish a jar. This is guilt free. Mary

About those barbecues I just wrote to all of you about, in comes this reply from "Peggy", filled with wisdom as her e-mails always are. Bunny Bunny, 'Real' friends respect and support your efforts to restore and maintain health. Anything grilled is damaging, beyond fat and calories. Just breathing, in the vicinity, is unhealthy. You are making a healthier choice by avoiding barbecues. Gathering people for an 'unbarbecue' would be a positive action as you suggested. Personally, long before I learned the danger I never went anywhere near grilling. It's in the same category as cigarette smoke to me. Peggy

Bunny, It is hard for me to grasp how anyone who has a weight problem would > struggle to find a way to include bleu cheese in any form . In addition to >the high animal fat I'm sure it has a lot of salt. >I do love the taste of cheese but limit myself strictly to occasional >purchase of low fat mozzarela in very small servings. >You can't eat what you don't buy. >My largest fat intake is a daily spoonful of olive oil on salad and >veges.,also limited nuts, wich I need as a protein supplement to a vegatarian >diet[diet meaning daily food intake]. >The only fast food I ever experience is a half sandwich of peanut butter >and jam on a slice of 'Monk's' raisin bread when I am very pressed for time. >Eating no meat or poultry is the basis of the healthy diet I have followed >for decades.Of course,I eat no fried foods of any kind >I am almost 84, no medication , no illness, plenty of energy for my favorite >pastime, ballroom dancing and the same dress size of a lifetime. >Thanks to a lucky chemical or hormone balance I've never experienced a food >craving , even while pregnant and don't know what people mean by 'mood >swing.'I do not start the morning with aches and pains and require little >sleep to function well all day. Generally I am awake from around5:30A.M. to >close to midnight without getting sleepy or wanting a nap during the day. >That does not mean I am hyperactive. I never rush unless it's absolutely >necessary. >No doubt,my general basic health protects me from wanting to do anything >that's harmful, from immoderate eating to smoking, drinking, drugs or >dangerous, risk taking actiivities, which to me have always seemed totally infantile. >The highest mountain peak is absolutely uninterested in whether you stand on >its peak or die in the attempt. > >My lifestyle allows my basic health to flourish long after 75% of people my >age.It might seem severe, even joyless but on the contrary, I continue to >enjoy and appreciate every day in many ways. >Bunny, your sense of humor is delightful and helpful to you and those in >contact with you. >Laughter, alone or in company is very healthful. Hi Patty, thank you for your kind note. Keep this in mind: people have a better chance of surviving most cancers than they do maintaining a weight loss. Frightening? That is why I walk the straight and narrow. It is a constant struggle. It never goes away..........I am proud of you, Bunny
[4:26:02 PM | 4/12/2008 | ]
Bunny - I'm just getting around to responding to the "Popeye in the Morning" column. This one really hit home for me. Especially sobering was the fact that after 4 years you have "not lost the compulsive desires to over eat." I think it will help me to keep things in perspective. My weight loss efforts will never really come to an end because even when I reach a goal weight I'll still have the same struggles to maintain the weight loss. This is a lifetime battle. And I've "stolen" a line for my screen saver - the one about it being acceptable to struggle or have a bad day, but not to give up. Thanks for sharing your struggles and by doing so inspiring the rest of us. Patty

Hi Bunny. Down 35 pounds since Jan. 15. Jill
[7:06:26 AM | 4/7/2008 | ]
Dear Bunny, I always read your emails with interest and enjoy receiving them. If you check out the Mayo Clinic website, they have a food pyramid which my doctor likes and which I follow. The food pyramid lists sweets as no more than 75 calories per day. For example, one Lindt chocolate truffle is 70 calories. So, for a true chocoholic, looking forward to 75 calories per day might be a Godsend, or a curse, if one can't stop at just one. Sincerely, Jeanna

As an emotional eater,I always think my food cravings are filling an emotional void. Having just read your "Figuring out the mind of a food addict" article gave me such insight into the physical side of food cravings. There are many public pools, that are very accomodating, scattered all about Syracuse. I am sure other areas offer the same thing. You did not say where you live, but the school where I teach, Clary, has a public pool that many adults come and use. Swimming was what launched me to my success. I swam with many people that had lupus, and they used to push me to keep up with them, and I did. Check in your area for a membership at a pool. Some are more reasonable than others. I truly believe no one can lose weight, and keep it off, if they don't exercise. Good luck, Bunny
[7:48:38 AM | 9/9/2007 | ]
Hi I was wondering if you have any suggestions of exercise for me. I weigh 220 lbs, and I had lost 40lbs through w/w then gained 20 back. My problem, is not so much eating alot, or eating bad things, but exersing. I have lupus, and i have a difficult time walking. I some time push myself, but I usually pay for it. I don't really have the extra money to join a gym, but I desperately want to loose at least 80lbs. any suggestions?

Hi Bunny, I have been reading your column in the paper and noticed you were also going to speak at Naturetime. I hope I get a chance to go and listen to you. I grew up with a mother who was a compulsive overeater ie food addict. Food has been an issue all my life. I have gone from anorexia to overeating and being overweight. I am having difficulty now managing my weight and I a know it is going to be a health issue for me if I let if keep going as it is. Right now I need to lose about 35 lbs. Your website and newspaper columns are going to be my push to achieve my goals. (I hope) Many of your stories remind me so much of my mother's struggle with food and those struggles that I am now dealing with. Thanks for sharing and touching those that you do Tracy Syracuse

Bunny- I have never, ever written or message-boarded or chat roomed anyone, but I could not stop myself from doing so now. I have not even finished reading half of your columns on the website and am so deeply touched and am also soul searching and considering all of the issues you have written about. I just joined WW and am a foodaholic and am thankful to not be alone. Susan

Hi Bunny! I just wanted to say hello! I recently saw a show on WCNY that featured you. And last year, I went to a seminar put on by NatureTime - could you also have been there, perhaps? I'm thankful that I finally caught up to your website, and that I have been able to read some of your columns in the paper. I really didn't think anyone else felt the way that I did. I just read your 11/21/06 entry - unitl recently, I had thought this anger I was feeling for so long was something that made me a defective human being. When I read your entry, I realized just how we rationalize our behavior, our choices, and our condition to ourselves. And the anger and frustration that results. I joined a free weight loss website recently called Spark People. And I gave the link to your website to a friend of mine who also belongs to it. Thank you for inspiring me to believe that what we truly desire and wish for can actually come true. I'm so proud of you and I've never met you. Take care and God Bless! Barbara

Hi Paula, I always want to stop and see you on the way to Beaver Lake. Send me directions to your house and I will stop and visit sometime. I miss you more than you will ever realize. You are going in the book becuase of what you taught me about short people. Discrimination is the root of all of our insecure feelings. Hope to hear from you, Bunny

Bunny, I attended the Fair Grounds talk last week and today joined Karen's Wed AM group. I was shocked to see how much I weighed. I had lost almost 35 lbs 3 yrs ago and quit before I reached goal and now have gained more back. Thanks for being an inspiration to so many of us. Janet

You're welcome, Bunny...before you put "Advanced Auto Parts" in your column, you might want to double-check. I know it's one of those places on W. Genesee St. in Fairmount, and I believe that is the name of it...just don't want you to get in trouble with them if they aren't the guys with the cashews. - Mary Beth

All I can say is WOW, Bunny. I am lucky to know you. I was in the audience at The Empire Room. What a great time that was. Thank you for sharing your story. I have been struggling with myself to start excercising. When you said if you don't start excercising you will be hungry. That sticks in my mind. I am trying to move more. Hope to see you at Thursday meeting. Lori D

Mary Beth, thank you so much for that wonderful message. I always worry about making an impact on people and I want to help so much. I cannot believe there is food at the places you listed. I am going to include them in my column. If anyone else knows "Where Food Does Not Belong" please post me the places here. Together, maybe we can make a change. I will keep writing and trying, Bunny

Bunny, in response to your request for places food doesn't belong: 1. Dick's clothing and Sporting Goods (candy!) 2. Advanced Auto Parts (huge containers of whole cashews!) 3. Borders Books (Lindt Truffles at the register!) Mary Beth

Hi Bunny...I was in the audience last night at the State Fairgrounds. YOU ARE TRULY AN INSPIRATION! I think you are one of those little angels you were talking about last night... I have been on and off Weight Watchers since Feb. 2002, lost 40 lbs. by November 2002...In January '03, I was down 45 lbs. Then I thought, "I can do this on my own. I know what to do. I don't have to pay money for this."...well, NO, I CAN'T DO IT ON MY OWN!! I brought my husband last night to hear you speak, and on the way home I told him, "No matter WHAT, I HAVE to go to meetings weekly! I don't care what it costs me, but I know deep down, I HAVE TO GO." Your first comment "Just Come", is such a simple statement, but it is so true. Last Sept. I rejoined WW (after regaining 36 of the 45 lbs. I lost...but at least I didn't gain them all back, "and then some", which was always the case in the past. Weight Watchers has given me some very useful, valuable life tools for doing this...so I did retain some good habits.)....anyway, I have been up and down for the last year, and I'm back to the weight I started at last Sept...we are starting another at-work program this Friday and I am sooooooooo ready now! You really pumped me up and got me thinking, and I just know that I will do it this time! I have to! Thank you for speaking to us last night, and for sharing your story and letting us in. You have had some tough times in your life, and I, for one, am very proud of the way you pulled yourself up and out, with dignity and grace. I came into work today and told everyone about you and they can't wait to hear you speak next time you do. Congratulations on your very successful journey!

Hi Everybody! I am down to the final 3 days before the BIG event. (NYS Fairgrounds, Empire Room, September 13, 6:30 PM.) I sure hope I will look up and see many familiar faces. My children will be in the front row, and I will be hiding somewhere until it begins to control my nerves. I do better when I just walk out and do it. If I think about it, I get nervous. When things calm down, I will resume sending all of you notes and sharing some great new products I have been buying. See you Wednesday! Bunny

Keeping things in the proper perspective: Labor Day Shockers! * The average BBQ meal contains 3,500 calories! That's at least 1,500 more calories than the average person should have in an entire day! * In 2001, Americans consumed 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and Labor Day alone! That’s a collective 2,205,000,000,000 calories! * One serving of BBQ pork ribs delivers 68 grams of fat and 1,360 calories! FYI…it’d take nearly 6 HOURS of post-BBQ clean up to burn off all those calories!

How is everyone doing? The weather is getting cooler now, fall is definitely in the air. Think about going for some walks befre we are snowed in. I can not walk outside when it goes under 40 degrees, so I am headed back to the gym now after a wonderful summer of spiritual walking. It is the only form of exercise that clears my head, and helps me cope with the ups and downs to life. On a lighter note, I hope you are running to the store to buy Cedarlane wraps. They are soooooooooo good. Even me, who stays away from packaged food, adores the taste and the convenience. My favorite is the veggie wrap and the Bean Burrito. Honest, they are good! Hope to see you all on the 13th, and I hope you bring other people in your life that need to hear my message of hope.............Bunny

Hi Bunny - I really wanted to go to Nature Tyme, but it didn't work out. I lost 20 lbs a few months ago - had a family emergency & my situation has changed drastically. Been 3 mos off now & I've gained about 5 lbs back - the working out stopped -I'm not being horrible, but not 'good' either ... I need to get motivated again!!!!! How do I get into the BLOG that people are talking about? Thx - Kim

Hi Bunny, your talk at nature tyme was great, I got alot out of it, went home didn't have dinner because we had to be there at 5 and when I got home it was after 7:30 or well I didn't suffer to much. rosemarie

Yes I think we struggle with technology, and I think I go the way of SPAM accidentally. But this web is the place to go to leave and post messages. No one should be having any problems here. I am going to be putting up some pictures as soon as I settle on a current one I like. I am thinner than the one on the BLOG, and I need a current one. Now the big event is September 13, and I hope as many of you as possible will fill up the seats so I see familiar faces when I speak. Good thing I am not shy, this might be my Waterloo is I were. Bunny
[5:42:15 AM | 8/16/2006 | ]
Hi Bunny, Isn't it great to see all those messages on the website! Read your latest column, and it had some thought-provoking ideas. Do you think somebody on your e-mail list may be unintentionally hitting "spam" instead of "delete" after reading your message? Some of us are pretty non-technical people. Hope the Natur-tyme appearances went well. Would have loved to be there. Blanche
[3:09:38 AM | 8/16/2006 | ]
Hi Bunny! Thank you so very much for sharing your story and suggestions with everyone this afternoon at Natur-tyme. You said so many things that really touched on the emotions of what happens with weight. I know that my biggest problem is between my ears. I am also checking your suggestions on the ADA. I also need to overcome my feelings about the rah rah club because your right I do need support. Dee from Liverpool

Hi Bunny Great articles the last two Tuesdays.
[1:49:34 PM | 8/15/2006 | ]
I am planning on writing a column on Where Food Does Not Belong. Do any of you have any suggestions? My favorite is in clothing stores at the checkout. I do not need to come face to face with Godiva? Any body else want to post some, I will gather them all and use them in a future column. This (the internet and my column) would be a great way to get our voices heard. Bunny

Molly, thanks for your note. I can so relate to the baby weight. Last week in the park when a woman told me I had lost enough weight, I told her I was working on my "baby weight I had gained." She alsmost fell over and died. She thought I just had a baby, I clarified it and told her, "that was 22 years ago, but I was slow at things. Good to see so many writing on here. Keep it up guys. This is the way to go for all of us. Hang in there! Bunny
[6:46:21 AM | 8/13/2006 | ]
Hi Bunny- your email was hilarious! I do need to visit this site more often, and leave messages. And check info. Thanks for all of the encouragement you give me. I am super excited for September 13- I have been wanting to meet you FOREVER. Right now I am doing Core, and I love it- mainly because I eat when I am hungry! I don't need to worry- just eat (without gorging, of course). I went blueberry picking today and it was fab to just eat those berries without a thought- just pure fun! I am slowly working off 30 pounds of "baby weight"- anyone else out there too? Right now the little one is 5 months old, he is fat as can be but on him it's cute- not so much on me. I have yet to get into my pre-preg clthes, and want to lose a little more too- we'll see. You are an inspiration- when I think my 30 is a lot, I remember what YOU have done- WOW. I love you! (gush, gush)- Molly (from Homer)

Hi Bunny - it's me Mary S - one of your WW buddies. Read your email today and yes, you made me laugh as those with true SPAM should be shut down, not you , who is trying to communicate an educational message to the public! I would want to fight that with the FCC. Who is your Internet Provider that is shutting you down?

Thanks for sharing such a personal story with us (in your newspaper column). It certainly concerns most of us who have lost significant weight. Maybe we could work out a group discount with the plastic surgeon. Seriously, hang in there, I do think some of the skin tightens a little with time. Not back to "normal", but a little. Blanche

I heard your radio program yesterday while I was in the car on the way to the fruit stand. I was so mesmerized that I got home before it was over and sat in the car in the driveway to hear it all. I got lots of new thoughts, among them that there are 21 meals in a week, and one weak moment eating a non-program meal does not flush the whole week. Oh, Bunny, you are such an inspiration to us all.

I am convinced that in a previous life I must have halted every kind of electronic progress that any one was trying to launch and that explains why every piece of electronic equipment I own today is out to get me. Another night of aspirin and off to the Ipod store tomorrow. We are on a first name basis. Hang in there guys, I am trying to keep up. Bunny

Bunny- Your latest column was thought provoking and I hope will have parents re-thinking the messages they send to their children. Also, maybe people will change their habits in an effort to be better role models for their children. If you get negative responses to the column, it's because as the old saying goes, "the truth hurts." I always look forward to reading your columns and thanks for always striving to educate us. Kim J

I just read your latest column. It was so good! I was a fat child/young person/adult, so I've been there. Fortunately our 7 kids were not heavy. But one daughter is facing fat children, and is now cooking healthy..and the whole family eats that way, on the pediatrician's advice. So we'll have a living experiment to watch. The kids seem to be adding height but not girth, so far. Each person in the family gets to choose one dessert a day, at their choice of time(usually low fat ice cream, or something in a box) Fruit is always available.
